Rebecca Greaves
CEO & Founder
Meet Rebecca Greaves, the CEO and founder of TheParentAdvocate. As a wife, mother, educator, and former school administrator, she is intimately familiar with the challenges of navigating the educational landscape.
Rebecca has extensive experience helping families ensure their children receive the best education possible. That starts with helping parents understand their options and empowering them with the information they need. Rebecca leverages her vast educational knowledge to help parents understand the different educational pathways available to their children and what experiences they can anticipate, including the private, independent, and public systems and the programs embedded within each. Rebecca has years of experience supporting families who are moving into Ontario or experiencing a corporate work relocation and helps them to ensure their children’s educational transition is as seamless as possible.
Rebecca also supports families exploring a change in schools and helps them evaluate their options. If a change in school is required, Rebecca utilizes her extensive knowledge and relationships with the private, independent and public schools across Southern Ontario to provide tailored recommendations to her clients. Along with recommendations, Rebecca has years of experience helping parents navigate the school admissions process. She coaches her clients in optimizing their chances of admission by creating a clear step-by-step plan, ensuring support from the initial stage of contacting the admissions team to the offer day. If remaining at the current school is best, Rebecca provides her clients with clear strategies to improve their child’s placement. Through her years as a School Administrator and Special Education teacher, Rebecca has sat on all sides of the table and knows how to create positive change for a child.
In addition to providing comprehensive support within school selection, Rebecca has extensive experience supporting families of neurodiverse children and ensuring their children receive the support they need within the school system. As a special education lead and curriculum developer in the public school system, she has reviewed countless psychoeducational assessments, created and strengthened individual education plans (IEPs), led school team meetings, and supported school teams in learning to support neurodiverse students better. Rebecca leverages these experiences to provide her clients with the support and knowledge they need to ensure their children can experience success in school.
Outside of her direct work with clients, Rebecca speaks at several parent conferences throughout the year, facilitates workshops for families through various organizations, partners with psychology clinics, acts as a consultant for a variety of private schools and corporations, both local and international, and advocates for change in the education system.
She grew up in Toronto, in the area of York South-Weston, and obtained her BA at York University and BEd through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers and the Ontario Principals Council.
TheParentAdvocate has been a long-time dream for Rebecca. She always envisioned a one-stop hub for educational guidance and support parents could utilize so they don’t have to navigate everything alone. Now, as a parent, she recognizes the need for this even more. Every parent wants to achieve the best for their children’s education, and she is honoured to be able to provide this service to the families she serves.
When Rebecca is not working, she is often running or cycling, hoping to compete in another triathlon one day. She loves spending time with her family in Canada and Barbados and travelling with her husband and young son.
